I hope this blog post finds you well! Hard to believe we are into August already! This week's nugget of nature is the hollyhocks which can be found in the garden along the fence in front of the Backus-Page House.
Fun facts about hollyhocks:
- Hollyhock flower stalks can grow to be 9 feet tall!
- The roots can be used medicinally.
- The stems can be used as firewood.
- It is an important symbol in modern Japanese culture.
- It symbolized ambition and fertility in the language of flowers of the Victorian era.
Have a great week everyone! Stay safe and take care!
