Saturday Sighting

Hi everyone!

I hope you are all staying cool and doing well :)  It is so exciting that the museum can be open now and I know it makes my heart happy to see people on the grounds again!  This week's nugget of nature is the lavender we have growing in the kitchen garden at the museum.

Fun facts about lavender:
  • The Mediterranean is where lavender is native to.
  • Lavender isn't only purple!  There are hybrids that are white, pale pink and violet blue.
  • It loves dry soil and hot sun!  It will be very happy right now :)
  • You can use lavender as a garnish on salads.
  • Lavender can also be used to give sugar a lovely smell.

Have a great week everyone!  Stay safe and take care!
